Gibbs & Main
Rochester-based, innovative chamber music ensemble, Gibbs & Main, performs interactive children's programs know as Kidsemble. The programs feature guest artists and varied styles of music. Children attending the concerts can meet the musicians and the instruments during a "petting zoo" and also create instruments that they will then play while performing with the ensemble at the concert. The Kidsemble series is funded in part by a grant from the Arts and Cultural Council of Greater Rochester with support from the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York State Legislature. Founded in 2002 by Karine Stone and Diego Garcia and formerly known as Quartsemble, Gibbs & Main is an innovative chamber ensemble based in Rochester, New York. The group, comprised of five professional musicians, performs classical masterpieces side by side with Latin music and more contemporary repertoire in both traditional and unexpected settings. Gibbs & Main is known for its interactive educational concerts for children and adults, often performing in schools, churches, and libraries, as well as restaurants, art galleries, and parks, bringing high-caliber performances to a wide range of audiences.
