Bruce Music and Theatre Academy
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Birth to Age 5: “Mommy, Daddy, and Me”
Class is geared for families with young children
who want to expose their little ones to the joy of
learning through music. In class we will engage
in creative movement, dramatic play, sensory
activities, and learning basic skills such as
rhyming, letters, numbers, counting, days of the
week, and taking turns all through the power of
music. This is an interactive class where the
parents stay and participate with their children
so that they can take what they learn and have
fun at home playing, singing, and learning
together.
Primary Class Ages 4-6: “Ready to Explore”
Class is geared for children who love music but
aren’t quite ready for the rigor and responsibility
of private lessons. In this class the children will
learn the conceptual foundations of how to read
and play music accurately through fun games
and activities. In this class parents do not
actively participate but are welcome to stay so
that they can reinforce the concepts and
activities learned in class at home.
School Age Class Ages 5-9: “Ready, Set,
Grow” Class is geared for children who LOVE
music and want to learn MORE! In this class
we will dig deeper into how fun it is to make
music both individually and cooperatively with
friends. In this class parents do not participate
but are more than welcome to stay.
All students in all classes will engage in both
musical and social/behavioral concepts tailored
to fit their age and ability.
Musical concepts include: beat keeping, pitch
matching, rhythm playing and reading,
identifying patterns such as rhyming, same vs.
different, high vs. low, fast vs. slow.
Emphasis is on effort not perfection of skills.
